The Burlington Writers Workshop offers nearly 300 free workshops each year in Burlington, Montpelier, and Middlebury, as well as master classes and various full-day writing retreats throughout Vermont. Most of our current workshops meet Online, but we do have in-person workshops. We ask that you attend at least one workshop before requesting to submit your own work for review.

Middlebury Chapter of the Burlington Writers Workshop
January 11 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pmFree
We are a respectful, engaged group of writers welcoming all skill levels and genres.
New to the workshop? Please take a moment and read this guide (http://burlingtonwritersworkshop.com/how-to-participate/).
The purpose of this workshop is to look closely at each other’s work and help cultivate, inspire, and strengthen our individual craft.
Once submitted, workshop pieces can be found here (https://burlingtonwritersworkshop.com/member-shared-files-2/). We will spend approximately 45 minutes discussing each piece. We also encourage participants to provide written reactions. Please find pieces on these page labeled according to the following format: MMDD_MIDDLEBURY_initials. So for instance, if Hemmingway joined us for a January 21st workshop, he would submit as 0121_MIDDLEBURY_EH.
Above all else, our meeting space is a sanctuary and respecting the privacy of the writer is paramount. By participating we agree not to discuss an author’s work or a participant’s feedback with those not involved. What happens during our meetings, stays within those meetings.
Please take a moment to read this article (http://burlingtonwritersworkshop.com/2014/08/08/on-giving-feedback/) on offering productive feedback. While not a “rule,” giving feedback can be a craft in of itself, and the guidelines offered are useful.
If you wish to submit a piece for our group, please contact the group leader. Please make sure you have attended a BWW workshop, and given feedback to others, before you submit your own piece (as per BWW guidelines). Please request early and have your piece posted exactly one week in advance of the workshop you have chosen so that we all have time to dedicate to it.
We will meet at the Golden Rule Mead Cafe in Middlebury. We have also implemented a rudimentary but satisfactory digital component to include any farther-out members who want to participate via Zoom. We will share the specific Zoom link information on an email thread that we use to organize among members of the group. If you would like to participate, please respond via Meetup to the group organizer and they will add you to this list to make sure you get the relevant info.
Looking forward to having you join us!
