Shelburne Vineyard’s First Thursday Concert May 2

Burlington Writers Workshop was Shelburne Vineyard‘s nonprofit partner for its First Thursday Concert in May.

The Shelburne Vineyard, began more 35 years ago when Ken Albert leased 3 acres of land from Shelburne Farms and began his commercial vineyard venture believing that viticulture and wine making could be a success in Vermont. The operation now includes of 17 acres of grapes, mostly the super hardy Minnesota hybrids, with a small planting of Riesling. Augmented by a talented young staff, the winery is producing reds, whites, rosés’ and ice wines, many of which have earned “Best in Category” gold medals in International competitions, and is now venturing into sparkling, orange, and naturally fermented styles of wine. Each month, they partner with a different Vermont non-profit beneficiary to present a First Thursday Concert at the vineyard. On May 2, from 6 – 9 PM you are invited to enjoy a blend of bluegrass, swing, blues, and acoustic covers performed by… Hardscrabble at Shelburne Vineyards First Thursday Concert Hard Scrabble, a Vermont-based acoustic band, was formed in 2009 and includes four, seasoned, multi-instrumentalists, fronted by the soaring lead vocals of Alexandra Gero. You can expect a variety of songs ranging from bluegrass hits to the darkest murder ballads of Appalachia. Coupled with well-blended vocal harmonies, their instrumentation includes guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, dobro, and bass.
