The financial advisory committee met last week and, among other things, we’ve decided that Cathy Beaudoin will be our volunteer accountant. Cathy is an Assistant Professor at The University of Vermont School of Business. She’s taken the records I’ve been keeping and whipped them into professional shape. If you’d like to receive a copy of the balance sheet, please sign up for our email list.I’ll send it later this week.
Here are the opportunities and announcements for this week.
Pat Goudey O’Brien will be handling all the Flynn Center blogging this season. The preview event is tomorrow night. We’ll have more information about what shows are available after that.
We’re looking for stories about faith/religion/belief/spirituality for the Burlington Book Festival, since we’ve been given the Sunday at 11 a.m. slot. If you’ve got something, send it to firstname.lastname@example.org and, if it fits, we’ll feature you as a reader at the Burlington Book Festival on Sunday, September 21st.
Darienne Oaks has published two short stories in Cricket Magazine. Congrats, Darienne!
Zach Despart wrote this brilliant profile of Vermont writer Chris Bohjalian. Nice work, Zach!
I’ll be giving up all organizer duties for two weeks beginning on July 12th. I’ll still be at the workshop on the 16th (my story is up for your consideration), but I think it’s wise to have several people who experience the organizer role. Cynthia Close will be running things. She’s got lots of non-profit experience and she knows the BWW style, so we’ll be in good hands.
That’s all for this week. Keep writing, and contact me if you have questions about the workshop.
