Opportunities and Announcements: Week of May 12, 2014

The staff of Mud Season Review has been chosen. Those folks will get together soon to figure out some work-flow details and I’m really looking forward to seeing what they come up with. Even though the masthead positions have been chosen, you’ll still be able to get involved. If you have ideas, especially for the logo design, please contact us to share your thoughts/design ideas.

Here are the opportunities and announcements this week.

Two BWW writers have asked me in the past few days if they know of any gigs (full- or part-time) teaching English or writing. These two writers are highly skilled and professional and any organization/company/school would be lucky to have them on the payroll. If you know of an open position, let me know, and I’ll connect you to them.

If anyone wants to open the BWW center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, or from 1 -6 p.m. this week, let me know. I’ll get you a key.

There are still opportunities to submit your work for review. If you need a deadline, this is the best way to hold yourself accountable. Check out our schedule and sign up for an available day.

Megan Mayhew Bergman is coming to Burlington for a reading we’re holding at Hotel Vermont. RSVP on Facebook and share this with your friends. She’s a kick-ass short story writer and she’ll answer your questions on how it’s done.

Congrats to Michelle Watters for having two poems accepted to S/tick Magazine for the June issue. Well done! Learn more about S/tick.

Thanks to everyone who has helped our June challenge by signing up for $12/month payments. For every new person who becomes a sustaining member of the BWW, a group of donors and Cope & Associates will donate $25 to the BWW. This will help with the rent as well as the production of Mud Season Review. Also, you’ll be entered to win tickets to see Patty Griffin at the Flynn Center in June. Become a sustaining member now.

Michael Freed-Thall is spearheading a BWW t-shirt project. We’re trying to come up with a cool design for the BWW, so if you have any ideas, please let us know. Also, if you’re interested in buying a t-shirt, let us know, because we’re trying to gauge interest in this project.

If you’re new to this workshop and you’d like to get involved somehow, please don’t hesitate to RSVP to a meeting or let me know if you have questions.
