Opportunities and Announcements: Week of April 14, 2014

The book launch party was fantastic! Thanks to everyone who helped make it a success. We sold 58 books (a lot of 2014 editions, a few 2013), celebrated those who submitted work, and had a great time. If you missed the event but would like to purchase a book, we’ll have them at meetings in the BWW Writing Center going forward, and you can also order books online.

Here are the opportunities and announcements for this week. Opportunities

We’re launching a literary journal and it needs a name. From your suggestions, we picked three, and we need your opinion. Vote here.

This literary journal needs a volunteer staff. Please check out the job openings and apply. Deadline to apply is midnight, April 30, 2014. We’ll notify you in mid-May.

We have volunteer openings for BWW jobs. Please do check them out and apply for the one you want!

The Flynn Center is interested in giving BWW members free tickets to jazz performances during the Burlington Discover Jazz Festival this June. We don’t have a full list of available shows yet, but if you are interested, please contact me.

New members: Welcome! We’d love to have you join us at any meeting, but if you’d rather attend at a meeting where everyone is new, join us on Tuesday, April 29th at 6:30 p.m.

Attention artists! Want to hang your work on the walls of the BWW writing center for the month of May? Contact me.

I will be reading along with Howard Frank Mosher, John Elder, Leland Kinsey, Greg Delanty and others at Phoenix Books at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 17th (this week!). This is Dede Cummings’ GWP celebration party. She’s publishing “The Stove,” which appeared in workshop not too long ago.

The editors of The Best of the Burlington Writers Workshop 2014 will be reading at Phoenix Books on Thursday, May 1, 2014. Please join us!

Citizen Cider is open across the street from the BWW Writing Center, so that means we can mosey on over there after workshops and keep the tradition of after-workshop drinks alive!
